| Years and years ago Nike started creating super lightweight running shoes; the Presto was one of the first shoes that I remember trying on. A few years after that the Nike Free came into the world. Nike created the Free Trainer for the use of a training shoe, but it didn't provide much lateral support as they would have liked. Until now, the Sister Series, this is made specifically for women. The shoe has just recently come out for women in the start of the year and hopefully the technology will advance into men’s shoes as well. What technology you ask? First the Flywire technology that Nike has created for their basketball shoes including the Hyperdunk. Flywire is made up of many high strength threads reinforcing the lateral support of the shoes. Hence why it started on the Hyperdunks, a sport where lateral movement is being pushed to the limits. Now the Sister Series has their own Flywire to help support those during aerobics, any jumping workouts and even some yoga positions. The second and newest technology to Nike is the DiamondFLX, which is not in ANY shoe except for the Sister Series, for now. The DiamondFLX allows the shoe to move around in anyway that you need it to move. This allows the mobility such of the Nike Free, but with much greater flexibility. The shoe is super lightweight and soft. However it is a training shoe, not necessarily a running shoe. You can use it for treadmill running if you run less than an hour. After an hour you will feel like you're running on the treadmill barefoot. Since the sole is lightweight and flexible it doesn't provide a ton of support while running versus its intended use as a training shoe. This shoe would be perfect for the athlete to use while in the gym training for marathons and other activities. From customer reviews, we have had feedback that the shoe is a little narrow throughout the toe box. The Flywire is not as giving as most mesh would be, but that is because this shoe is meant for keeping its structure and giving that lateral support. Also the heel and arch padding has been commented on for being very soft and supportive. The narrower heel and longer toe bed are some characteristics that make this shoe more women specific then most. Which women are loving thus far! All in all, this shoe is going to be a hit. Amongst some of the other trainers out there I have seen the Sister Series is not only fashionable, but meant for some more intense training sessions. This means that the athlete that works out two times a week can wear it or that athlete that lives and sleeps in the gym can wear it. It is an excellent shoe and I can't wait to see what Nike does for the men’s version. See all the Sister Series shoes at sportchalet.com Check out the Sister Series video collection!
